The version worth building is different: not a generic list, but a specific selection built around your body, your life, and the occasions that actually require clothing that works.

The relationship between a woman and her clothing tends to become more specific — and more interesting — after 40. The decade of trying everything to find what works gives way to knowing what works. The wardrobe of quantity and experiment gives way to a wardrobe of fewer, more deliberate pieces. The question shifts from "what is fashionable" to "what is right for me."
