A custom suit that arrives needing adjustment is not a failed commission. It is a normal occurrence in a craft that involves measurements, pattern drafting, construction, and a body that exists in three dimensions and moves. The question is not whether it will ever need adjustment — some pieces do — but what to do when it does.

Vestium NY is a New York studio. The clients who commission from us are not all in New York. A meaningful portion of our commissions are fulfilled for clients in other cities and countries — people who either visited New York for an initial consultation and now commission remotely, or who began the process entirely by correspondence and video.

A custom suit is a meaningful gift — arguably one of the most personal things you can give someone who cares about clothing. It is also, on the surface, an unusual gift to give, because the entire point of a custom suit is that it is made to the specific person wearing it. The measurements, the fabric choices, the style decisions — all of these normally involve the person who will wear the piece.
